Step-by-Step Photos
Gather ingredients and cookware.
Pour 1 cup water into pot and heat on high
until boiling.
Add 1/2 cup rice into boiling water
and cover. Reduce heat to low. Cook for 10 minutes.
Check rice for bubbles. If bubbles are still present, then cook for another 2 minutes or until bubbles are gone. Here no bubbles are present so the rice is done. Turn off heat and let rest covered for 2 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and serve up as a side. Enjoy!
See that is super easy! Now you don't have to fret about over or under cooking the rice. It comes out perfectly each time and you don't need a rice cooker!

A pot works better.
I use my rice steamer to steam vegetables. Sometimes I'll steam rice AND veggies at the same time, but that only works if the veggie is something that steams quickly, like spinach, and who makes rice with spinach? Wait... now I WANT rice with spinach. Hmm... I have some leftover mahi mahi from last night's dinner... hot damn, you just solved my "what's for dinner" problem. Go you!
(P.S. Found you on Wine'd Down Wednesday)
I never knew that a pot works better! Thanks for letting me know and now I'm glad I make it in a pot. Yea I have heard that they are good for steaming veggies. I may buy one just for that in the future. Spinach and rice does sound good! Whoo hoo!!! I'm glad I could help you figure out dinner for tonight :)
DeleteThank you I always seem to overcook my rice!
